PROBLEM

Inbound messages remain in Inbound Message Queue after issue on mail server causing a SMTP 400 level response has been resolved. 

SOLUTION

Wait for the messages to automatically release or manually release messages.  To manually release messages, please perform the following:
  1. From Control Panel, select Messages Inbound Message Queue
  2. Select individual messages to release or Select All
  3. Select Release 

CAUSE

Messages are released from inbound message queue based on a retry interval.  As messages enter the inbound message queue, they begin their retry cycle. After each failed attempt to send the message to the mail server, the retry interval will increase.  If messages are selected manually to release, their retry interval will start over.
